OUR CONCERT PLANNED FOR 28 MARCH 2020 HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND ALL REHEARSAL HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED
We are virtually ready to perform Carl Orff's much loved Carmina Burana and the less well known piece by Constant Lambert called Rio Grande. We have been rehearsing since January and we just needed to brush up on a few areas before we would have been ready to go on stage.
For this concert we were going to join up with Croydon Philharmonic Choir as well as the children of St Mary's C of E School in Oxsted and we were to be accompanied by the wonderful Docklands Sinfonia. It was to be our first visit to the newly refurbished Fairfield Halls in Croydon. The coaches were booked and everyone was looking forward to what we know was going to be a fabulous evening.
It will come as no surprise to you that the concert has had to be cancelled. We at BCS are incredibly sad about the cancellation because singing is what we do but in one way it was an easy decision to accept because the well-being of our audience, our members and our musical partners is and always will be paramount.
For the time being we have also had to suspend our regular rehearsals for reasons we all know well by now, but that does not mean we have stopped working altogether. During this period of shutdown we will continue to make preparation for our future concerts, whenever they may be. When we all get back to normal we will be back doing what we do, bringing live choral music to the area for those who enjoy singing and those who enjoy listening to it.
Keep safe everyone
